COVID / Vaccination

11 mars 2021

English version in the second half

  • Even by showing indulgence, the management of the COVID crisis, both by the European Union and by the government of the Republic (France), this management will not have been free of bug, backwards, untruths and contradictions. Our Europe bureaucracies could do better.
That said, it seems that finally a more efficient management of the logistics is finally put in place.
This Saturday March 6, on the advice of my youngest daughter, I registered on the list of vaccine applicants at the pharmacy around the corner. This Wednesday March 10 I received a call confirming that I will receive my first injection this Thursday March 18 at 16:00.
This appointment-making calls for three remarks, namely the political choices of the vaccination site, the constraints of vaccine conservation, and finally on the political acceptance of technical-scientific expertise.
    – The US has largely chosen to inject giant vaccinodromes. France has chosen to increase the number of vaccination sites based on the network of pharmacies. Each of the choices has its own advantages, describing them here is irrelevant. However the following point enlightens, at least partially these choices.
Pharmacies are supplied with Astra-Zeneca which has a huge advantage for pharmacies: its storage temperature is easy to manage with existing tools. For their part, the US, by concentrating in one place many candidates, the management of the cold chain becomes less complex.
    – Using all available mechanisms, only the central government can optimize such a complex operation. The laissez-faire of the previous US administration has clearly shown its limits.A swallow does not make spring, my vaccination is not the end of the tunnel,
but we were at the edge of the precipice and we made a big step forward.
